Mumbai, Oct. 3: Wipro today announced top-level reshuffles after Anand Sankaran, senior vice-president for Global Infrastructure Services and Wipro Infotech, quit the company.
The Bangalore-based firm today appointed Soumitro Ghosh as the head of Wipro Infotech. Senior vice-president Shaji Farooq has been appointed as the global head of its BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) strategic business unit, while G.K. Prasanna will take charge as the senior vice-president and global head of Global Infrastructure Services.
Before this, Farooq was leading the firm’s advanced technologies service line and go-to-market transformation initiatives, Wipro said in a statement. He will continue to be based in New York.
He will take over from Ghosh, who will now head Wipro Infotech and the India and West Asia businesses. Ghosh will continue to operate from Bangalore.
Along with his new responsibility, Prasanna will continue with his current role as the senior vice-president and global head for product engineering solutions.
He has been with Wipro for more than 25 years and had led the technology infrastructure services business between 2000 and 2009 and is credited with launching several innovative service delivery models.
