Imphal, Oct. 2: Hosts Manipur moved into the girls’ final of the 23rd Sub-Junior National Baseball Championship at Khuman Lampak sports complex today.
Manipur had a tense moment against Odisha in the semi-final but ultimately prevailed en route to the final.
Manipur will take on Maharashtra in the final tomorrow.
For Manipur, Rebika Devi, Kabita Devi and Ranjita Devi got two runs each while Shanta Devi and Suchitra Devi chipped in with one runs each. For Odisha, Ramita Maduli got two runs while Prasanti, Rasmita, Roja and Madhusmita fetched a run each.
Maharashtra edged out Chhattisgarh en route to the final. Aishwarya topscored with three runs while Megahrani, Givija, Janvi and Shreya got two runs each and Dhanashree, Sayali, Mayuri and Rajshri picked up a run each.
Earlier, Manipur beat Haryana by 11-1 runs.
The third place went to Chhattisgarh, who beat Odisha by 6-3 runs.
In the boys’ category, Delhi will take on Maharashtra in the final tomorrow. The third place was taken by Chhattisgarh who beat Odisha 7-6.
Suraj got two runs while Abhisek, Ankit, Ankur, Shubham and Niraj got a run each for Chhattisgarh.
Training: The Manipur Mountaineering Training Association is organising a seven-day outdoor education on Adventure and Youth Leadership Training Programme under the NPYAD scheme began at its MMI complex at Lamdan.
Fifty participants from Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Manipur and Nehru Yuvak Kendras are taking part in the programme, which will continue till October 7.

Sports meet: The first State-Level Sports Meet, 2013 for Persons with Disability organised by State Platform of Disabled People’s Organisation Manipur got under way at Khuman Lampak main stadium today.
The sports meet was formally inaugurated by deputy chief minister G. Gaikhangam, who donated Rs 50,000 for the sports meet.
Agriculture minister Abdul Nasir also attended the inaugural function.
Cricket: Two city youngsters — Mayur B. Phukan and Surender Singh Pawar — have been selected to play in the Indian Premier Corporate League T20 season 4 cricket tournament organised by Indian Twenty20 Cricket Federation at Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad from November 12 to 16, writes our staff reporter from Guwahati.
