Calcutta: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has finally called off the rain-marred S.K. Acharya Challenger Trophy. The decision was taken after inclement weather forced the second game, between Bengal A and Jharkhand, to be abandoned as well.
Only 12 overs could be played in the competition. “We’ve decided to call off this tournament. However, we’ll make sure our players get to play practice matches before the start of the Ranji Trophy,” CAB joint secretary Subir Ganguly said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the CAB’s working committee, in Tuesday’s meeting, retained the senior selection committee. Arup Bhattacharya replaced Madan Ghosh as chairman of the junior selection committee.
