Calcutta: Grandmaster Sahaj Grover of Delhi is the top seed of the 8th Tata Steel Chess for Youth Tournament, which will start at the South City International School, from Friday.
The four-day meet is organised by the Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy and Allsport Management. The Rapid chess meet will be of seven rounds and will be played in Swiss League System.
IM Diptayan Ghosh will lead the local challenge in a field that will have some 800 players. Reigning women’s national champion Mary Ann Gomes will also pose a tough challenge.
Srijon Chatterjee of four years and three months is the youngest boy in the meet while Aloktika Chatterjee of four years and eight months is the youngest girl participant.
