Shillong, Oct. 1: Rangdajied United Football Club today appealed to its fans to have “patience” while promising to deliver better performances as the current I-League season progresses, ahead of its home encounter with Goa giants Dempo Sports Club.
Rangdajied United, the second team from Meghalaya to be in the prestigious league after Shillong Lajong FC, will play in front of its home fans for the first time since the league commenced on Friday afternoon at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Polo.
The first two away matches for Rangdajied, one in Calcutta and the other in Bangalore, ended in disappointment. However, Rangdajied coach Santosh Kashyap today assured the fans that the team would come up with better performances as the league progresses.
“The level of play in the I-League is higher than that of the second division and my players are getting used to it,” Kashyap said, in the presence of team captain Eugeneson Lyngdoh Mawphlang.
The former Mohun Bagan coach also said the style of play that Rangdajied players have been used to playing is under transition.
“These players are used to the short passing game but my game is the direct attacking strategy,” Kashyap said. While stating that the team’s midfield and defence lines were sturdy enough, he said the forward line still lacked the “punch” that was required in order to be able to score goals.
Eugeneson said the local players in the team are looking forward to Friday’s encounter as they would be playing in front of their own fans.
Meghalaya Football Association vice-president B. Diengdoh said the sale of tickets for the Friday game start tomorrow.
The tickets have been priced at Rs 80, Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 400. Tickets will be available at SSA counters in Polo grounds, and also in some stores in the city and other parts of the state.
