Shillong, Oct. 1: CMJ University chancellor Chandra Mohan Jha today reappeared before Meghalaya CID sleuths, days after he left the city for Bihar.
Jha reported before the sleuths at around 11am here as part of the investigations, which were launched against the private university since April, sources said.
Jha has been asked to report before the sleuths at least till Friday, the sources added.
Jha had earlier appeared before the CID sleuths from September 19-21.
However, on September 22, when he was supposed to report back to the sleuths, he informed the investigating authorities through an email that he had to rush to Bihar to attend to his ailing wife.
The university chancellor had obtained anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court since July, and the apex court had fixed October 8 as the next day of hearing on the bail issue.
Former governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary had alleged that there had been “mismanagement, maladministration, indiscipline and failure” in accomplishing the objectives of the private university.
Mooshahary, who was also the visitor to the private university, had lodged an FIR against it on April 26.
Subsequently, a police case was registered with the CID police station (Case No. 2 (4) 2013 under Sections 420/406/466 IPC).
On Saturday, the CID sleuths had handed over the CMJ University office, which is housed in Modrina Mansion at Laitumkhrah here, to the university officials after it was seized in May.
