Kohima, Sept. 30: The parliamentary secretary, power, C. Kipili Sangtam, and his wife hosted a dinner at his official residence here last evening in honour of delegates of Vitamin Angels, a US-based NGO.
Sangtam appreciated the work that Vitamin Angels has been doing in the remote areas of the state to help improve nutrition of rural mothers and infants.
He said the people of Nagaland will support the NGO’s work. He said many people in Nagaland were not aware of the achievements of the healthcare programme, and urged the Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation to create more awareness in healthcare with focus on the work being done by Vitamin Angels.
Former president and adviser of Vitamin Angels, Asangla Cholong, said during her tenure the organisation had started many programmes. Vitamin Angels had not only secured the lives of thousands of infants and mothers but had also created awareness on the importance of nutrition, she added.
Programme adviser in India, Shilpa Vinod Bhatte, highlighted the work done by Vitamin Angels in India.
