Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated vigilance cases against 73 buildings across the city to tighten the noose on errant builders and illegal construction activities.
Twenty more such cases would be filed this week.
PMC commissioner Kuldip Narayan on Monday said alarming violation of norms in building construction activities have been found in the New Capital circle, particularly in the SK Puri area.
The violation pertains mostly to illegal commercial construction on residential land of the erstwhile Patna Regional Development Authority and construction of multi-storeyed buildings over the height of 11m on roads less than 20-foot wide.
Narayan said: “We have started the process of measuring the buildings suspected of getting constructed in violation of building byelaws and other norms in SK Puri from last Saturday and based on the reports 20 vigilance cases have already been filed. Twenty more cases would be filed this week.”
The meeting of the empowered standing committee of the PMC slated on Monday was cancelled after several members protested against the proposed video recording of the meet.
