Calcutta: United SC striker Ranty Martins was a happy man, but was not ready to go overboard with the team’s two wins on the trot.
“Yeah I am happy to contribute. We have two wins out of two, which is a great thing. But there’s still a lot of work to be done. We just had 21 days of pre-season… So we have to keep on working hard… These wins will mean nothing if we start losing,” Ranty said after his Man of the Match performance against Sporting Clube de Goa, at the Kalyani Stadium, on Sunday.
“In fact me, Eric Brown, Bello Rassaq and Deepak Mondal are making sure the team keep their feet on the ground. Eelco (Schattorie) is doing a wonderful job… It’s a joy working with him, the Nigerian said.
Ranty said Sporting were a tough nut to crack. “They are a tough team… And pegged us back till the 87th minute. But we kept our shape right and waited to catch them off guard on the break. I am happy that we executed our plan well,” he said.
Eelco also lauded the team’s performance. “We showed great character. We started well and but gave away the ball a little too easily in the middle stages.”
