Calcutta: A wet outfield and afternoon drizzle forced the opening game of the S.K. Acharya Challenger Trophy, featuring Bengal Seniors and Bengal A, to be abandoned.
Not a ball was bowled on the second and final day of the tie as the umpires decided to call it off after a second inspection at around 2pm. The skies were more or less clear in the morning, but umpires preferred against resumption of play because of the wet ground conditions.
“Umpires took the right decision. We don’t want our players to get injured, especially when there aren’t many days to go before the Ranji Troph,” said a senior CAB official, on Saturday.
Bengal A 66/0 (Jayojit Basu 31 .., Purab Joshi 27 ..) vs Bengal Sr. Match abandoned.
