Hyderabad, Sept. 27: The CPM is set to accept a poll alliance offered by Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh after being spurned by the Telugu Desam.
The decision follows discussions between CPM state leaders, including politburo member B.V. Raghavulu, and the Kadapa MP yesterday. Both the CPM and Jagan are against bifurcation of the state.
The CPM has been in the wilderness in Andhra since 2009 when it bagged one Assembly seat. The party differed with the TDP on its pro-Telangana decision.
The political mercury in Andhra has shot up since Jagan was released on bail on Tuesday. .
Besides the CPM, Jagan also plans to woo the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) for poll alliance in Telangana region. He has already held discussions with Assaduddin Owaisi, when the MIM chief called on him in jail.
Jagan has said his party cannot be without any representation in Telangana even though it championed the united Andhra bandwagon.
