Guwahati, Sept. 26: The AGP’s city unit today staged a protest in front of the APSC office, demanding recruitment of 100 per cent local candidates in all government, semi-government and private sector jobs in the state.
It also demanded that no candidate from outside the state should be allowed to apply for the Assam Civil Services examinations conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) in December.
AGP general secretary Durga Das Boro alleged that central government organisations like the Northeast Frontier Railway, the Food Corporation of India, LICI, BSNL, nationalised banks and private organisations had been showing anti-local attitude during recruitments.
“Local youths are neglected and deprived of jobs. As a result, these organisations are filled with people from outside the state. Of late we have observed that this trend is growing in state government departments too. The AGP will not tolerate neglect of local candidates,” Boro said.
