Ranchi, Sept. 24: A primary schoolteacher was abducted in Chainpur police station area of Naxalite-hit Palamau district yesterday. Police have ruled out the involvement of any rebel groups.
The victim, Xavier Tirkey, was abducted once before on January 26. But then, he had managed to flee the clutches of his kidnapers and returned home safely.
Yesterday, according to sources, Trikey of a government primary school in Gurha village was on his way home to Semartand when five persons intercepted him near Khorhimore. They dragged him in a pick-up van and disappeared.
Palamau SP Narendra Kumar Singh said police were yet to find out the motive behind the abduction.
“His financial condition is not sound enough to benefit his kidnappers. Our preliminary investigations suggest that he did not have any personal enmity with anyone, either. Whether the same group of kidnappers is involved this time too, needs to be examined carefully,” he said.
The SP added raids were on to find out the teacher.
