Imphal, Sept. 23: North Imphal Sporting Association registered their first victory, defeating North Eastern Reorganising and Cultural Association by 4-2 goals in a match of the AMFA eighth Manipur State League at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
Fielding a young team, NISA got their first goal through I. Nilakumarís pass to L. Sanatomba, who slammed home in the third minute for the lead.
NISA made more headway with skipper T. Ajitkumar ruffling the net in the 10th minute to post a two-goal lead.
However, the North Eastern team fought back positively with seasoned campaigner L. Gouro making a lofted attempt to NISA goalmouth where NISA keeper blocked the ball but it jumped inside the goalline to concede a goal in the 15th minute.
L. Sanatomba scored NISAís third goal in the 39th minute but L. Deepak fetched North Easternís second goal in the next minute from a deep header in the 40th minute.
Later, Sanatomba came up with a hattrick goal as well NISAís winning goal in the 65th minute for the victory today.
Manipur took third place in the menís category of the 32nd Senior National Taekwondo Championship which concluded at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium last evening. Manipur finished with 35 points after SSCB, who got 47 points and Haryana got 49 points, with the latter claiming the championís title.
