Around 150 residents of Gerua village in Dimna on Monday demonstrated in front of the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner’s office, demanding closure of a resort that they alleged had turned into a “hub of flesh trade”.
Before this, around 200 irate villagers barged into Dimna Resort, around 12km from Jamshedpur, and forced its employees to run for cover late on Sunday night.
“We demand immediate closure of the resort,” said one of the protesters. Later, they handed over a memorandum to the DC, seeking his help.
On Sunday, the villagers ran riot and threatened to block the road leading to the resort on the foothills of the Dalma Hills.
“Nothing objectionable seems to have been going on in the resort. We are keeping tabs. If we notice any wrong, we will take steps,” Bodam officer-in-charge N.K. Mandal told The Telegraph.
