Imphal, Sept. 22: All-Moirang Hockey Association drubbed Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur by 8-0 goals to claim the championís title of the State Menís Under-19 Junior Hockey Tournament 2013 at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium today.
Moirang surprised Posterior Hockey with H. Amarjit striking home his teamís opening goal in the first minute of play.
Amarjit consolidated soon after, scoring his teamís second goal in the 13th minute from a penalty corner conversion.
Posterior Hockey were pushed to the backfoot by their opponents and the Moirang team scored their third goal through H. Mani in the 23rd minute to post a 3-0 goal lead.
Moirang player L. Dipa struck in the 45th minute, H. Amarjit in the 53rd minute and H. Mani came up with his hattrick for the 8-goal victory.
Khongman Students Club took the third place, beating LYLYC by 8-5 goals.
In the womenís category, Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur blanked Ideal Club Tera by 3-0 goals to lift the trophy.
S. Bindiya, and S. Loibi scored for Posterior Hockey while Ideal girls MC Linthoi conceded an own goal for a 3-0 victory.
The third place was taken by South Eastern Youth Organisation.
Manipur Hockey feted M. Amarjit of All Moirang Hockey Association and Gitarani Devi of Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur as the Best Male and Best Female players of the tournament.
The Best Discipline team title was awarded to South Eastern Youth Club.
Charangpat CDO was declared the Most Promising team.
Badminton: Thoubal district claimed double titles as its teams picked up the team event titles of the 32nd Inter District Badminton Championship 2013 held at MBA Indoor Hall.
In the final, the Thoubal women beat Manipur Police 2-0 for the title while the Thoubal junior girls team drubbed Imphal East by a similar score.
Athletics medals: Assam athletes Tunlai Narzari and Shashank Tiwari bagged a gold and bronze medal respectively for the East Zone in the 25th national inter-zonal junior athletics championship at Kochi in Kerala today.
Narzari claimed the girlsí under-20 gold medal while Tiwari won the boysí under-14 shotput bronze.
Taekwondo: Madhya Pradesh claimed the championís title in the womenís category of the 32nd Senior National Teakwondo Championship 2013 held at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium today.
Madhya Pradesh finished with 51 points while Assam got the runners-up title with 39 points and Uttar Pradesh took the third spot.
The Best Fighting Spirit title was conferred upon Maharashtra.
In the senior womenís under 62kg, Rekha Ranee Gogoi beat Sneha H. Bhatt of Maharashtra for the gold while Rekha Devi P. of Madhya Pradesh and Lalmuan Songi of Mizoram settled for the bronze medals.
In the 6th Senior National Taekwondo Poomsae Championship held simultaneously at the same venue, S. Chinglemba of Manipur bagged the gold, while Lalruwa Kima of Mizoram took the silver and Rahul of Maharashtra, S. Calvin of ITBP bagged the bronze medals.
