Guwahati, Sept. 22: A five-wicket haul, including a hattrick by Tashi Bhalla, helped Sikkim annex the championís title of the North East under-25 T20 Cup cricket tournament for BCCI associate member states, beating Arunachal Pradesh by six runs in a close final at Nagaland CA Stadium in Sovime village of Dimapur yesterday.
The tournament was organised by the Nagaland Cricket Association.
Sikkim, who won the toss and elected to bat, were all out for 102 runs with three balls remaining in their quota of 20 overs.
During the Arunachal chase, Bhalla wreaked havoc with a haul of five for nine in 3.5 overs to send them packing for 96 in 19.5 overs.
Padam Limboo (33, 4x3, 6x1) was the topscorer for Sikkim with teammates Nilesh Lamichaney and Faizan Khan chipping in with useful knocks of 17 (4x1) and 15 (4x1) respectively.
Hitesh Sharma and Niraj Kumar of Arunachal took three wickets each, conceding 18 and 21 runs respectively.
Karan Pal topscored for Arunachal Pradesh with 38, hitting three fours and as many sixes while Lalit Gahlot remained not out on 37 (4x3).
Apart from Bhallaís five, Limboo, Palzor Tamang and Leeyong Lepcha of Sikkim picked up a wicket each.
Bhalla was adjudged Man of the Match for his star turn while Lamichaney was declared Man of the Tournament.
Sams Alam of Arunachal grabbed the Best Bowler award and Oren Ngullie of Nagaland was adjudged the Best Batsman.
