Jamshedpur, Sept. 21: Steel city cager Saurabh Kumar Singh is now gearing up for the international court having already proved his mettle at the national-level.
The 17-year-old basketball player from New Baradwari has found a place in the list of probables for the qualifying round of Asian basketball Championship 2014 and will be attending the national Under-18 camp at Aurangabad from September 30 to October 19.
A cadet of Tata Steel Training Centre (TSTC), Saurabh has developed into a dependable player over the years with his accurate passes and scoring skills. His height of 6ft 8 inches has helped him net the ball with ease.
“Saurabh is very talented and we expect him to represent India in the near future. I wish him all success,” said TSTC chief coach J.P. Singh, who has mentored him since 2011.
Saurabh has represented the state and Tata Steel in various national-level contests over the last couple of years. “I am happy over my selection as a probable for the national side. I am confident about giving my best at the camp in Aurangabad,” he said, adding that basketball was his only love.
