New Delhi, Sept. 21 (PTI): India today said it was monitoring the situation in Nairobi and that all its mission staff were reportedly safe.
The official spokesperson in the ministry of external affairs said that after the reports of a terror attack in the Westgate mall today the Indian high commission is in close touch with the Kenyan government and leaders of the Indian community.
“Reports are coming in of a terror attack and taking of hostages at a shopping mall in Nairobi. The official figures of injuries and deaths are not yet available,” he said. A Kenyan Red Cross official said at least 25 people have been killed in the attack. “Our high commission is closely monitoring the evolving situation, have been visiting hospitals and is in close touch with the Kenyan government and leaders of the Indian community. “All members of the high commission are reported to be safe,” the spokesperson said.
