Calcutta: The CAB will impose strict penalties on players and coaching centres who have not appeared for hearing and are guilty of age-fudging during the Ambar Roy under-14 meet.
Friday was the last day for players to appear before the cricket committee. A total of 24 players, of the 50 caught for being over-aged, were supposed to appear but only 13 turned up.
None of the implicated players from at least two coaching centres — PG Ghoshal Coaching Centre and Calcutta Cricket Academy — appeared before the committee. Hence, these two coaching centres and the respective players are likely to be banned for at least five years.
The CAB, however, is likely to be lenient on coaching centres and players who have appeared before the committee.
The quantum of punishment will be announced in the first week of next month.
Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly offered tips to Writam Porel and Sreevats Goswami during Bengal’s practice session at the indoor coaching centre on Friday morning.
