Chandigarh: The Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Wednesday, outplayed the Faisalabad Wolves by seven wickets in Mohali to seal a berth in the main round of the Champions League T20. New Zealand’s Otago Volts is the other team crossed the qualifiers hurdle.
Both the teams have an all-win record so far with Sunrisers leading the group by virtue of a better run-rate. The Volts have been drawn in Group A and Sunrisers in Group B of the main round.
After the match, Dhawan praised MoM Amit Mishra for his miserly spell of 4-1-13-1.
The following are excerpts
Shikhar Dhawan: We had a great match... I’m in good formů We are playing some smart cricket as well. That’s why we are so consistent.
One big plus for us from this match has been Dale Steyn gaining his rhythm back. He is a world-class bowler and we all know what he can do when he is on fire.
The spinners also bowled exceptionally well, especially Amit. We knew that Amit has to bowl well for us in this match. I knew I had to use him well to get the best out of him and he bowled well. Karan Sharma, the other spinner, also bowled well.
Misbah-ul Haq: Well, I am happy that I am getting runs, but that is not helping the team. We have been outplayed in almost departments.
On a positive note, it is great for the team, especially the youngsters who haven’t played in international matches yet, to have come here and participated in the tournament.
Amit Mishra (MoM): Bowling 17 dot balls was really something exceptional. We know what impact can dot balls have in this format of the game. It builds a lot of pressure on the batsmen at the crease. Wolves are a good team and they have a good middle-order. So I did not try a lot of variations against them. I just tried to stick to a tight line so that they can get the runs easily.
Right now, I am a very confident bowler. I have put in a lot of hard work at the nets. I had worked on both my strengths and weaknesses.
