Kokrajhar, Sept. 18: The Kokrajhar district committee of Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha staged a sit-in at Raasmela ground here today, demanding re-amendment of the Venture Educational Institutions (Provincialisation of Services) Act 2011 in the next Assam Assembly session to rectify anomalies in the first phase of provincialisation.
The protesters also demanded a formal discussion between the state government and the Mancha members.
Talking to reporters here, committee president Pradeep Kumar Bargayary said, “We thank the government of Assam for its initiative to provincialise venture educational institutions of the state after a long gap of 21 years. But some problems remain, requiring further amendment of the act.”
