Calcutta: Okolie Odafe is confident of making a comeback from the third round of the I-League.
The Mohun Bagan captain, who is out of action since September 5 after suffering a quadriceps injury, began his rehab process on Tuesday. “I am feeling much better. I was really missing the team. I am confident of returning from the third round of the I-League,” the Nigerian said at the club ground.
Talking about his team’s stuttering start to the Calcutta Football League (CFL), Odafe said these things happen in football. “There will be matches where you will lose points. A striker cannot score goals in every match. I am sure in the next match, strikers will fire… I will urge the fans to remain patient,” he said.
An unimpressive Bagan were held by George Telegraph, at the Barasat Stadium, last Saturday. For most part of the match they were trailing by a goal, before Katsumi Yusa’s strike saved the club the blushes.
Bagan’s next match is against Peerless SC on Wednesday at the Salt Lake Stadium. Coach Karim Bencharifa will welcome back defender Aiborlang Khongjee and striker CS Sabeeth.
Both of them have recovered from injuries. Bencharifa may also give a start to Eric Muranda.
“This is our last match before the I-League. We want to log full points. A win always gives a team confidence,” Karim said.
