Q: I worked as a customer care executive in Wipro, Salt Lake, from January 2007 to October 2008. Due to marital discord, I had to resign without serving the company the two-month notice as required. Despite my repeated requests, the company has not paid me my dues, including my provident fund. How can I get my PF money?
A: You could send the company a legal notice requesting them to settle all your dues including the P.F. amount. If it still does not respond, you could file a money suit against them to recover your dues.
Q:We had purchased a first floor flat in New Alipore. According to the floor plan, the ground floor was earmarked as the car park. However, one of the flat owners, without prior knowledge of the other flat owners, got the ground floor plan changed and has converted a part of the car park into an eatery. Letters to the Calcutta Municipal Corporation and other agencies have not helped. What should we do?
A.S. Mehta, Calcutta
A: If you feel that the eatery is not complying with the corporation building rules and is a safety hazard as well as a nuisance for the other flat owners, you may file a civil suit for injunction against the concerned flat owner. However, before moving court you could file a complaint with the local police station.
Q:I bought a flat on the basis of an agreement in August 2011. The promoter got me to do the registration of the flat even before the completion of construction. Almost a year has passed but work is still incomplete. We cannot move in as there is no electricity connection or lift. I am a retired person. What can I do now?
A: It was wrong on the part of the promoter to have the flat registered before its completion. You should have objected to it. You need to look up the sale agreement to see the period within which the promoter had promised to hand over possession and the other terms and conditions. If there has been a violation of any of the clauses, you can serve him a legal notice addressing all your issues. Later, you could file a civil or consumer case seeking compensation from him.
