Ranchi, Sept. 14: Police have registered a murder case in connection with the death of a Class X student, who was found hanging in her hostel room in Bariatu, Ranchi, yesterday.
Chairman of Central Academy Harishanker Chaturvedi (90) and assistant director of World Buddha Foundation — it manages the school and its hostels — Subhash Kirpekar (75) have been named accused.
Vidisha Roy (14) was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room around 1pm yesterday. Khusboo Kumar, a Class XII student, spotted the body and raised an alarm.
Vidisha was taken to RIMS where doctors declared her brought dead. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
School principal Sakel Deo Singh said the entire school was shocked as Vidisha was a good student who excelled in sports as well as studies.
“But, she had been depressed, worried about her board examinations next year. We had planned a counselling session for her between 2.30pm and 3.30pm yesterday.”
SP (city) Manoj Ratan said, “An FIR was registered last night on the basis of her father’s complaint. He suspects that her daughter was strangulated.”
