Calcutta: The All India Football Federation Players’ Status Committee on Friday set December 31, 2013, as a deadline for Mohun Bagan and Churchill Brothers to clear the dues of all the players whose salaries are pending.
K P Sunny chaired the meeting at the AIFF headquarters, Football House, in New Delhi.
“It was unanimously decided in the meeting that Mohun Bagan and Churchill Brothers will have to clear their decks on player salaries on or before December 31, 2013,” a release from the AIFF said.
Seven players from Mohun Bagan -- Rakesh Masih, Jewel Raja, Manish Maithani, Biswajit Saha, Arindam Bhattacharya, NP Pradeep and Khelemba Meitei — had lodged complaints with the AIFF. Steven Dias and Sandip Nandy are the Chruchill players who have complained.
The committee also asked AIFF to showcause Mohammedan Sporting for failing to provide any evidence supporting their claims of breach of contract by former India player Mehrajuddin Wadoo and for not replying to the e-mails regarding the complaint made by them against the player.
On the issue of whether Jovel Martins had committed a breach of contract with Sporting Clube-de-Goa by signing up with Pune FC, the committee decided to seek an explanation from the Pune club within seven days.
A final call on the matter will only be taken after receiving a reply from Pune FC.
