Kolhan University is going all out to ensure that its students land jobs in a competitive market.
The academic council meeting of the varsity, which took place at Chaibasa on Thursday, saw discussions on a number of job-oriented courses that will be proposed to state HRD department.
Besides postgraduate programmes in business administration and mass communication, the university planned to send proposals for masters in sociology and political science. The meeting, chaired by vice chancellor Salil Kumar Roy, also proposed an MEd programme and a five-year law course.
“We will try to introduce more courses as soon as possible. Students in this part of the country hardly get exposure. Thus, we are focusing on job oriented courses,” said M.R. Sinha, proctor of the varsity.
The council also approved a postgraduate course in political science at Jamshedpur Workers’ College and similar programmes in Urdu and mathematics at Karim City College.
“We have approved courses for Jamshedpur Workers’ College and Karim City College. Other colleges have also applied for approvals on some courses. We have to look into their proposals,” Sinha added.
The academic council meeting also proposed for a music department at Graduate School College for Women.
