The court of district and sessions judge II Deepak Nath Tiwary on Wednesday sentenced two persons to rigorous life imprisonment after finding them guilty in a 2010 murder murder.
Mrityunjay Singh (27) and Sonu Singh (32) had fatally injured Satyanand Singh, a 25-year-old resident of Baridih, after a brawl over a seat in a Ranchi-bound bus at Sitaramdera terminus in the morning of February 17, 2010.
Sitaramdera police had registered a case against the duo on the basis of an FIR lodged by Sadanand Singh, elder brother of the deceased, who was at the spot.
Mrityunjay and Sonu were arrested the next day and sent to Ghaghidih Central Jail.
During the trial over the past six months, all nine witnesses, including Sadanand and his younger brother Shivanand, were examined.
According to sources, the victim and his brothers had gone to board a Ranchi-bound bus at Sitaramdera terminus on February 17. The trio had booked their seats earlier but found them occupied. The siblings then approached Mrityunjay, the agent they had purchased the tickets from.
A heated altercation between the agent and the three snowballed into a clash. Mrityunjay and his assistant, Sonu, started thrashing the siblings.
During the scuffle, Sonu hit on Satyanand’s head with an iron road and he collapsed in a pool of blood. The victim was rushed to Tata Main Hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
