Golaghat, Sept. 10: Shillong Lajong Football Club defeated Kohima Komets 2-1 to sail into the semi-finals of the All India Invitational Prize-money Football Tournament, organised by Golaghat District Sports Association at its ground here.
Lajong took the lead as early as in the eighth through Redeem Twang. The lead was further enhanced to 2-0 when Twang struck again in the 16th minute.
Switching sides, Kohima Komets changed their tactics and they managed to score their only goal in the 78th minute through Wahangbam Angousana Luwang.
Despite having better ball possession in the second half, favourites Kohima Komets failed to give the 5,000-strong crowd a cause for celebration.
