Ranchi, Sept. 10: A special CBI court today granted JMM MLA and minister Simon Marandi 15-day time to file a review petition in Jharkhand High Court, challenging the lower courtís earlier order that allowed the agency to take his voice sample in the 2010 Rajya Sabha horse-trading case.
The court of R.K. Choudhary passed the order in response to a petition filed by Simon yesterday. The CBI was expected to record his voice sample today.
On September 6, the lower court had directed Simon to provide his voice sample following a CBI petition, alleging that the minister had refused to cooperate in the ongoing investigations.
The CBI contended that his voice sample was required for forensic tests to match it with the voice of the original videotape wherein Simon allegedly demanded money to vote for certain candidates during 2010 Rajya Sabha polls.
It is probing the role of six MLAs allegedly involved in the 2010 cash-for-vote case.
