Golaghat, Sept. 9: Dynamo Club, Guwahati booked a semi-finals berth in the All-India Invitational Prize-money Football Tournament, organised by the Golaghat District Sports Association, on its ground here, thrashing Madhya Pradesh United FC, Indore 5-2 in a quarter-final encounter today.
MP United took the lead in the eighth minute through striker Shiwang Kumar. However, Dynamo came back strongly for an equaliser by Somnath Chakrabarty in the 23rd minute. Dynamo’s pressure paid off in the 65th minute as they took a deserving lead with Somnath Chakrabarty’s second goal. Within 10 minutes, Somnath pumped in another goal, making himself the first player in the meet to strike a hattrick.
The lead was enhanced to 5-1 with Dynamo’s Nigerian recruit skipper Omeyama Francis scoring another goal in the 85th minute. Though MP United initiated moves into the Dynamo castle, poor finishing left them disappointed for some time till Victor Chandu managed to fire in another salvo to reduce the margin to 2-5 in the 88th minute.
