New Delhi: The participation of ace grappler Sushil Kumar in the World Championship remained uncertain even as a 22-member Indian squad left for Budapest on Friday. The team will train in Hungary till the championship starts on September 22.
Though sources said it was highly unlikely for Sushil to take part in the World Championship, the wrestling federation included his name in the list of team members. Junior wrestler Arun Kumar has been named as the standby for Sushil in the 66kg.
A federation official said the London Olympic silver medallist was still nursing a shoulder injury and was not expected to take part.
“But he may be joining the team in Budapest and train there and take part if he is found fit,” he said.
Sushil, however, said he was hopeful of participating in the World meet. “I will be going to Budapest and definitely take part in the competition,” said the former world champion.
