Borjhar, Sept. 1: Assam kickboxers tallied as many as seven medals, including two gold, in the 18th World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO) India Junior National Kickboxing Championship held at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra in Calcutta from August 22 to August 25.
Participated by 18 kickboxers from Assam, three from Goalpara — Jitul Das, Purondor Roy and Debojit Rabha — stole the show by wining gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. While Jitul tallied the below-51kg gold in kick light, Purandar finished the runners-up in below-53 kg K1 rule. Debojit settled for a bronze in the below-53 kg low kick.
In the 57kg K1 rules, Swrangsa Bashumatari of Udalguri bagged the other gold medal while Sansuma Boro of Baska won a silver medal in 57kg light contact.
In the 54kg light contact, Partha Pratim Rabha bagged a bronze. Ranjit Kumar Boro of Baska won a bronze in the 63kg point fighting. Partha Pratim Rabha tallied a bronze in 54kg full contact.
