Ranchi, Aug. 30: The youth, who was abducted from Karamdag village on Wednesday evening, was found dead in Latehar’s Lebrarhi forest, about 10km from the place of abduction, this morning. Police arrested one and detained two in this connection.
Rakesh Yadav (24), the only son of local trader Ganga, was returning home to Karamdag from his shop at Herhanj, 10km away, around 8pm on Wednesday when four men intercepted his motorbike and abducted him at gunpoint.
On Friday morning, police personnel accompanied by local villagers recovered the body from Lebrarhi forest of Herhanj police station area and sent it for post-mortem examination to sadar hospital. According to police, the youth sustained a bullet injury on the back of his head.
Superintendent of police (SP), Latehar, Michaelraj S. confirmed the murder and said, “One Ranjit Ganjhu (18), who had informed the abductors about the movement of Rakesh, has been arrested. However, the abductors are still at large.” The wife and the brother of PLFI extremist Mukesh Yadav have also been detained for interrogations.
Michaelraj said, “Preliminary investigations suggest that a rivalry between two groups over fish production was behind the murder. But, it would be too early to come to any conclusion at this stage.”
