Southampton: Opener Aaron Finch smashed the highest score in a Twenty20 International on Thursday when he hit 156 that propelled Australia to 248 for six in the first of the two matches against England. The burly batsman struck 11 fours and 14 sixes off 63 balls to better the previous best of 123 scored by New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum.
Australia’s total was the second highest in a T20International.
It was a mind-blowing batting display from Finch, as he tore apart the England attack. He began with a six off the first ball, picked up effortlessly off Steven Finn, and the ball continued to travel and disappear into the stands as he set a new world record of 14 maximums in his innings.
