Calcutta: Defending champions Kingfisher East Bengal will start their Federation Cup campaign against Rangdajied United FC on January 2 next year.
The AIFF has stuck to the existing format of the Federation Cup, which begins on the New year’s Day — January 1 — only for the coming season, though.
Of all competitions, the Federation Cup has been the one where East Bengal have done most things right. Out of the last six editions, East Bengal won as many as four of them. In the fixtures announced by the AIFF on Thursday, East Bengal and Rangdajied have been clubbed with Sporting Clube de Goa and Bengaluru FC in Group B.
