Dhubri, Aug. 28: A man was killed and his wife critically injured when a gang of robbers broke into their house at Borbila Pahar under Mancachar police station in Dhubri district in the wee hours today. Two of them have been arersted.
A police source said a gang of eight to 10 persons in black clothes and with their faces covered broke into the house of Abdul Sayed Mondal, a 36-year-old cattle trader, tied him and his wife Banisa Bibi, 30, and attacked them with sharp weapons.
“Mondal sustained critical injuries on head and chest. He was given first aid at Hatsinghimari hospital and was being shifted to Goalpara civil hospital where he died,” Sarbeswar Roy, officer-in-charge of Kharuabanda police station, said.
Officer-in-charge of Mancachar police station, Samar Bhusan Banik, said three robbers entered the victim’s house, while rest kept watch outside. “We have arrested two robbers, Saher Ali alias Kalu, 25, of Borbila-Pahar and Safiur Amin, 19, of Borbila. Saher is a known criminal. Amin is a first-time offender,” he said.
