Imphal, Aug. 27: Eastern Sporting Union thrashed Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club by 4-0 goals in the opening match of the IEDFA’s Khuraijam Tarunkumar Memorial Senior Women’s Football League at Artificial Football Turf in Khuman Lampak sports complex here today.
Th. Umapati Devi netted the opening goal in the 13th minute for Eastern Sporting Union and later W. Komlapati Devi consolidated in the 30th minute to post a two-goal lead in the first half.
Making matters worse for Naharol, the Eastern Sporting team increased the lead with H. Mandakini Devi striking her team’s third goal from a free kick in the 53rd minute. Later, I. Prameshowri Devi got the better of Naharol Yaipha keeper to push home during injury time. Eastern player A. Romi Devi and Naharol player Debjani Devi got a yellow card each in the match.
Thongju Kendra legislator Th. Bishwajit Singh formally inaugurated the football league.
In the meantime, the IEDFA’s Kh. Suchitra Memorial Junior Girls Football League will begin tomorrow with Eastern Sporting Union taking on NIVSO in the opening match.
