Imphal, Aug. 21: M. Monika Devi claimed the champion’s title in the sub-junior girls’ category of the 23rd State-Level Carrom Championship at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
In the final match, Monika Devi faced tough challenge from Th. Kobita Devi but the former ultimately prevailed. Monika Devi took the first game by 17-2 points.
Kobita Devi came back in the second game taking it by 15-13 points.
The deciding third game saw Monika Devi producing her best shot to take it by 17-11 game for the title.
In the sub-junior boys’ event, H. Delin beat Atal Saikhom by 2-1 games to claim the title. Delin dominated the first game, taking it by 17-5 points.
But in the second game, Atal reworked his strategy to beat Delin by 19-13 points. However Delin had the last laugh as he demolished Atal by 21-0 points for the victory.
The third place game saw L. Taibanganba get the better of M. Napoleon by 9-14, 12-9, 12-10 games.
AIFF notice: The AIFF has notified that it will allot a one-time General Referees Identification Number (GRIN) to enable referees above 30 years at entry level without any classification and without scope of upgrade.
The employment of such referees will be confined to their respective state only.
In another communique to AMFA, the AIFF has informed that the players’ registration system would be implemented from September 10.
