London: Essex have given Monty Panesar a chance to resurrect his career by signing the left-arm spinner, who has been released by Sussex, on loan for the rest of the season.
The end of Panesar’s stint with Sussex was on the cards especially after he was embroiled in a serious controversy. Earlier this month, he was caught urinating in public near a nightclub in the wee hours and fined by the police, an incident that put him in the red books.
Panesar will be making his debut for Essex against Northamptonshire in Tuesday’s County Championship promotion clash at Colchester.
A move back to his hometown of Luton is now a possibility and Essex are close enough to put it in the market for a player who had his 48th England Test cap against New Zealand in March. (AGENCIES)
