Imphal, Aug. 18: Karatekas of the Imphal East District claimed the team championís title of the 25th State-Level Karate Do Championship, which concluded at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium today.
Imphal East karatekas bagged 12 gold, seven silver and six bronze medals for 56 points while Thoubal karatekas bagged the runners-up title collecting seven gold, seven silver, three bronze medals for 38 points.
Imphal West karatekas finished third with seven gold, three silver and four bronze medals. In the sub-junior boysí under eight to nine years category, E. Nongpoknganba of Imphal West claimed the gold medal, beating Md Hujaifa Hussain of Imphal East.
Md Mustafa of Imphal West collected the bronze medal. In the sub-junior boysí 10 to 11 yearsí category, Md Zaiur Rahaman of Imphal East defeated Kh. Rajesh of Thoubal for the gold and silver while Md Nawaz Khan of Imphal East fetched the bronze medal.
In the cadet boysí 52kg category Md Ajmir of Imphal East defeated Md Chaoba of Imphal East for the gold medal while Md Habibur of Imphal East bagged the bronze medal. In the senior menís under-21 year 61kg category, W. Malemnganba of Thoubal beat Md Jinus Shah of Imphal East to claim the gold medal while Md Ziaul Haque collected the bronze medal. In the sub-junior girls under-eight years category, W. Supriyarani Chanu of Thoubal, W. Diana Chanu of Thoubal in the sub-junior girls 8-9 years and W. Susmita Chanu of Thoubal in the sub-junior girls 12-13 years claimed a gold medal each.
