Jamshedpur, Aug. 17: As many as 26 cricketers will attend the third Ranji Trophy preparatory camp to be held at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi from August 20 to 30.
The shortlisted players have been asked to report at Ramadir Residency at Harmu Chowk in the state capital on August 19.
“This will be the third camp. The first two were also held in Ranchi. We have great facilities in the state capital and they should be utilised to the fullest. The stadium also has an indoor arena that will allow players to practise even during rains,” said JSCA assistant secretary Ashim Kumar Singh.
The team is a balanced mix of senior and upcoming players. The 10-day exercise will provide them ample opportunity to focus on their weaknesses under the guidance of newly appointed coach Subroto Banerjee, a former India pacer who donned the Bihar jersey in Ranji Trophy.
Jharkhand will take on Delhi at the home turf in Ranchi from October 27 to 30. With the state’s first outing of the Ranji not far away, JSCA wants the players to be in fine fettle.
Besides skipper Shahbaz Nadeem, the batting order includes Saurabh Tiwary, Ishank Jaggi, openers Manish Vardhan, Rameez Nemat and Aakash Verma. The squad also has middle order batsmen Kumar Deobrat and Keshav Kumar, wicketkeepers S.P. Gautam and Subroto Ghosh.
