Chennai, Aug 16: The makers of Thalaivaa (Leader) have sought chief minister Jayalalithaa’s help after Tamil Nadu theatres didn’t release the film because of alleged political pressure.
The movie, playing elsewhere, hint at star Vijay’s political ambitions. Vijay’s father said the film would help catapult his son to the chief minister’s chair. “Only Amma’s blessings will help, as in the case of (Kamal Haasan’s) Viswaroopam,” said a PR official. Jayalalithaa helped the film release with cuts after sections of minorities felt offended.
