Security guards of Tata Motors Limited allegedly held a 30-year-old man hostage after suspecting him to be a diesel pilferer near Ghorabandha turning in Telco police station area and then beat him up on Tuesday night.
Govindpur resident Sanjay Munda, who works at GS Hostel in Telco, is undergoing treatment at MGM hospital and has injuries all over his body.
Munda claimed he was going to the hostel for emergency duty when a group of security guards caught him near some stationary Tata Motors chassis around 11.30pm on Tuesday.
“They wore uniforms of Tata Motors guards. They called me a thief and accused me of pilfering diesel from chassis. I denied and said that I was going to GS Hostel, but they did not listen. They took me to a hall where they beat me with sticks and iron rods,” he told mediapersons.
The youth added he was dumped at the same spot from where he was picked up at 6am on Wednesday. Local residents rushed him to MGM hospital.
Officer in charge of Telco police station Kamleshwar Pandey confirmed that Munda had accused Tata Motors’ security guards of assaulting him. The guards, in turn, have lodged a counter FIR against Munda, he added.
“The security guards have alleged that Munda attacked them when they interrogated him regarding diesel pilferage from stationary vehicles and it was then that they retaliated,” said Pandey, adding that investigations were on.
