Calcutta: International Master Murali Karthikeyan remained sole leader with 7.5 points in the boys’ section of the National Sub-junior Chess Championship, organised by the Bengal Chess Association, on Monday.
Karthikeyan holds the top spot after a tense draw with B. Kumaran, who’s on 7 points, at the end of the ninth round. Alongside Kumaran, IM Diptayan Ghosh, Sidhant Mohapatra, FM Arvindh Chithambaram and Harsha Bharathakoti are half-a-point behind the leader.
Among the girls, Varshini Velavan jumped to the top of the table with a win over Shiny Das. She now has 7.5 points.
