Guwahati, Aug. 8: A late surge by Sunrise Athletic Club paid off as they edged past Green Valley Sports Club 1-0 in the Abhishek Motors R.G. Baruah Super Division football league organised by the Guwahati Sports Association at Nehru Stadium here today.
Sunrise substitute Sanjit Mandal lifted the tempo of a rather lacklustre match in the 76th minute when he made no mistake after being fed with a through pass from the midfield. Mandal beat Green Valley stopper Maneswar Mushahary and custodian Cheeradeep Chattopadhyay to find the net.
Sunrise strikers Camara and Lenin Angom failed to utilise a couple of opportunities inside the box.
Green Valley had put up a better show in the first half but were erratic in their execution.
