A 30-year-old man was seriously injured after being allegedly beaten up by a builder and his two associates over a monetary dispute on Wednesday night.
The incident took place near Kashish Apartment in Azadnagar police station area of Mango.
Samsher Khan, a computer mechanic and resident of Kashish Apartment, sustained injuries on his head and is undergoing treatment at MGM Medical College and Hospital. His condition is stated to be serious.
Police have registered a case of assault against Saheed Akhtar, owner of realty firm Saheed Builders, and his two aides on the basis of an FIR lodged by Khalid Iqbal, a relative of the victim.
All three accused, residents of Azadnagar, are absconding.
According to the FIR, Samsher had paid Rs 1 lakh as booking money to Saheed about three years ago for a residential flat in Azadnagar. But construction never started and Samsher asked Saheed to return the money.
Last month, Saheed returned Rs 50,000 in the presence of a number of witnesses. The builder also left his bike with Samsher, saying he would take it back after paying the remaining amount.
On Wednesday night, Samsher was at Khalid’s place when he was informed that three men were beating up his father at their flat. He rushed home to find it was Saheed and his two associates.
The attackers, who were allegedly armed with a pistol, started assaulting Samsher too. They hit him with the pistol’s butt. However, no shot was fired. The trio then fled with the bike that Saheed had mortgaged to Samsher as a guarantee.
Officer-in-charge of Azadnagar police station Vidya Singh confirmed that the attack was the fallout of a monetary dispute. “We are trying to trace the accused and have started conducting raids,” she told The Telegraph.
Saheed is known to have cheated several people in the locality in the name of selling residential flats at cheap rates.
