Ramgarh BJP leaders on Thursday accused Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) officials of demanding money for replacing defunct transformers in the district.
They threatened an indefinite protest in front of JSEB executive engineer Pratosh Kumar’s office from August 11 if the officials did not return Rs 1.75 lakh they had allegedly taken as bribe from businessmen to change transformers by August 10.
Choudhary alleged middlemen of JSEB officials collected Rs 50,000 for replacing a transformer in central market area, Rs 35,000 for one at Golpar market, Rs 50,000 for the main road and Rs 40,000 for Gola road.
Executive engineer Kumar denied the charges. “None of the departments demanded money for any work. The transformer on Gola road was changed within four hours on BJP’s demand.”
