New Delhi, Aug 7: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has set up a four-member committee to manage the political fallout of the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in the wake of continuing protests by leaders from the coastal and Rayalaseema regions.
A section of Andhra leaders sought to interpret this as a victory of sorts and some even suggested that the creation of Telangana should not be viewed with finality. But Congress spokesperson P.C. Chacko clarified: “This committee has been formed to implement the Congress Working Committee decision, not to block it.”
The official release said the committee was formed “to hear the concerns being expressed arising out of the decision to form a new state of Telangana”.
The committee will be headed by A.K. Antony and will include Digvijaya Singh, Veerappa Moily and Ahmed Patel.
