Calcutta: Aditya Khaitan propelled Williamson Magor-A to the top of the leaderboard with a score of one-under 71 taking their team total to 231, on the penultimate day of the Division I of The Telegraph Merchants’ Cup, at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, here on Thursday.
The Merchants’ Cup and the Challenge Cup is presented by The Telegraph, in association with Ballantine’s. Williamson Magor B followed after a round of 76 by J Dagar, their three days total at 237.
Manavi Halwasiya of J. Thomas-A, however, fell short finishing with a score of 80 taking the team total to 238.
On the last day, all eyes will be on the Lakshman Singh who will be up against the likes of Gaurav Ghosh of J Thomas-A.
In Division 2, the top spot has been acquired by Dr S. Baruah of Mcleod Russel-I (255) with a score of 84. K. Shekhawat of McLeod Russel-B with score of 79 is at the second position with a team total of 259. Third spot was taken by Oil-A (266) after a round of 86 by A Nath.
In Division 3, Emami was leading after a round of 87 by Jayant Goenka making their team total at 245 and second place was taken by McLeod Russel D (260) after a round of 84 by A. J. Borgohain and third place was taken by ONGC (262) with a score of 79 by S Panging.
In The Telegraph Challenge Cup, with a three-day total score of 216, DBS Bank were leading after splendid rounds by Mayukh Ray (72) and Deep Banerjee (71). The second spot was taken up by South India Project (217) after Akash Tantia scored a 72.
Three teams, e. Barclays Wealth, Emar Green and Supertech, are sharing the third spot with a score of 219 each.
J. Gohain of Tata Global Beverages won the straightest drive on the fifth hole, while Mayukh Ray of DBS Bank won the Ballantine’s Long Drive on the 10th hole.
Rohan Shroff of Skill Dye was closest to the pin on the 13th hole.
